Aguila Design y la Estabilidad Dinámica
¿Es un ave? ¿Es un avión? ¡No, es un barco!
Parece sacado de un episodio de “Viaje a las Estrellas”. Pero no, es una realidad técnica: un innovador diseño de Estabilidad Dinámica pone a esta curiosa embarcación más cerca de un avión que de un barco, más cerca del cielo que del agua.
Desde 1978, Aguila Design, una compañía española, investiga en forma privada los diseños de Estabilidad Dinámica, con el apoyo de una Universidad Libre Las Colinas, el departamento de mecánica de la Universidad de Ghent, la Universidad de Alicante y el astillero Vennekens, con el mecenazgo -entre otros- del gobierno de Bélgica y el banco Societe Generale.
La mejor forma de definir a una embarcación con diseño de Estabilidad Dinámica -un concepto claramente importado de la aeronáutica- es decir que vuela sobre la superficie del agua. Su primer prototipo, el “Breaking”, mide 3,66 m de eslora y 2,99 m de manga; y pesa sólo 80 kilos, con la carbonera vacía.
Propulsado por dos turbinas de aire de 30 watts con hélices de 77 cms, al acelerar, la forma de su casco, más parecida quizás a un avión pequeño en delta que a un barco convencional, hace que planée hasta flotar parejo por encima de la superficie, dejando en contacto con el agua únicamente una pata en forma de ski.
De alta maniobrabilidad y estabilidad, capaz de acelerar y desacelerar en segundos, desarrolla velocidades por encima de los 30 nudos con muy bajo consumo, no cabecea ni rola, manteniéndose estables aún en los giros más cerrados.
Patentado en Bélgica, Sudáfrica, Australia, Francia, el Reino Unido, Alemania y España, sus creadores espera poder comercializar la propiedad intelectual sobre su desarrollo y el know how proveniente de la fabricación de su prototipo para la fabricación y distribución comercial. Si bien este vehículo se encuentra aún en fase de desarrollo -existe un prototipo del “Breaking” y el segundo modelo, el “Shark”, aún está en la mesa de dibujo-, se estima que podrá ser utilizado no sólo para actividad deportiva, sino también para transporte de carga y pasajeros, para patrullaje costero o para brindar auxilio en situaciones de inundación. Sus diseñadores no descartan, inclusive, una aplicación militar para una embarcación capaz de alcanzar velocidades pocas veces vistas en la industria.
